Forbes names Vladimir Potanin Russia’s richest tycoon in 2020

MOSCOW, Apr 7 (PRIME) -- Forbes has named co-owner of metals giant Norilsk Nickel Vladimir Potanin as Russia’s richest tycoon in 2020 putting co-owner of independent gas producer Novatek and the previous leader Leonid Mikheslon to the third place, the U.S. magazine said in a statement on Tuesday.

“On Tuesday, April 7, Forbes presented the 34th annual rating of the world’s richest people. It included 102 participants from Russia, two more than in the previous year. In the Russian part of the rating, the leader has changed, and it was topped by Vladimir Potanin,” the statement read.

The wealth of Potanin grew to U.S. $19.7 billion in 2020 from $18.1 billion in 2019. Vladimir Lisin, core owner and chairman of the board of directors of steelmaker Severstal, occupied the second place with the wealth of $18.1 billion, while Mikhelson’s wealth was at $17.1 billion.
